How we are paid.

Every referral business has a conflict. The ones worth trusting say what theirs is on the way in, rather than leaving you to find it later.

The short version

• You pay us nothing. Not a fee, not a subscription, not a percentage.
• The firm we introduce you to pays us. Either a fixed fee for the introduction or a share of what they earn, depending on the market and the firm.
• Your enquiry goes to one firm. Not to a panel, not to a list, not to whoever pays most that week. One introduction, chosen for the situation.
• We are not paid more to recommend one firm over another in the same market. Where rates differ between firms, we hold the choice to fit rather than to fee — and if that ever stops being true, this page changes first.

The SmeCFO connection

Chief Fractional shares ownership with SmeCFO, a fractional, interim and part-time CFO practice that has operated in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Indonesia since 2015.

That is not incidental — it is where this site came from. Running CFO engagements across the region is what made the same unmet need for COO, CMO, CTO and CHRO capability obvious, and nobody was serving it properly outside the US.

The division is structural and we hold to it:

• Finance mandates in those five markets go to SmeCFO directly. It is our own practice and we say so on the page every time.
• Every other function goes to an independent specialist firm. SmeCFO does not deliver COO, CMO, CTO, CRO or CHRO engagements and will not start.
• Every other market goes to an independent firm, including finance mandates outside those five countries.

What we will not do

• Sell your details to more than one firm, or add you to any list
• Collect, hold or broker details of individual executives or candidates, anywhere
• Route an enquiry to SmeCFO for work it does not actually do
• Take a fee for an introduction we do not think will work
